Continue reading »]]> The second day of the Hawaii Bridal Expo just finished, and it was great meeting so many brides & grooms-to-be who are planning their Hawaii weddings for later this year, next year, and beyond! It was interesting to hear your stories, plans, and dreams for your celebration, and I’m grateful that you spent the time sharing. Over the next few days, I’ll be following up with you to see what I can do, as your Master of Ceremonies and perhaps DJ for your wedding, to help you create a very fun and lively event that’s just as unique and original as you are!

It was also nice to connect with good friends & Hawaii wedding professionals, as well as meet new ones!

It’s been busy the last few months, with weddings, events, and taking care of your events in general.

In June, I served as the Master of Ceremonies and DJ for the Hawaii weddings of Diego & Eleanor Serrato and Carol & Martin Miyashiro.

And of course, this past weekend was the extraordinarily fun and entertaining wedding of Amber & Caleb Henderson:

Of course, in between, there are couples to meet, scripts to write, musical soundtracks and cues to prepare, rehearsals to undertake, and much more. But it’s all part of why I love serving you!

I’ll have a brief writeup and some pictures of these events over the next few days/weeks, including some professional images and video from the great wedding professionals whom I have recently worked with (that means you, Bambooth, Owen & Owen, Chrissy Lambert, and others). But first, the Hawaii Bridal Expo is this weekend at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, so drop by! Continue reading »]]> If you’re attending the Hawaii Bridal Expo this weekend at the Blaisdell, here’s a great tip to save you some time at the show.

Many vendors will ask you to fill out an information sheet to get your information, and many of them ask for the same thing: your name, wedding date, wedding location, phone number, email address, and more. If you are writing this for every vendor you meet, it will take a lot of time that could otherwise be spent meeting more vendors! So why not come prepared: before you visit, print out your most commonly requested info on mailing labels! The Avery 8160 labels (1″ x 2 5/8″) are the perfect size, and you can find them cheap at Fisher Hawaii or Office Depot.

On each label, print out:

• Your name,
• Your wedding date (if not known, the approximate time frame you’re looking at),
• Your wedding location (both ceremony & reception), if known,
• The best phone number to contact you at,
• Your email address,
• And your postal mailing address.

When you meet a vendor you really like, instead of spending two minutes writing in your information on his request sheet, simply “Peel & Stick!” then go on to your next conversation!

Continue reading »]]> It certainly has been a while since I last wrote, hasn’t it?

The last two weeks were pretty insane. Just to give you an idea of what’s been happening:

• May 23: Janilee & Melvin’s wedding celebration–very lively, fun, and awesome. The writeup for this event is forthcoming…
• May 24-25: I officially take a two day vacation by driving out to Hana, spending the night, and driving back. We visit a few hiking trails, waterfalls, and beaches on the way back. Lucky I live Hawaii, huh?
• May 26: Get home, catch up with the office work, rehearse & prepare for the Oahu Wedding Association party later that evening. After all, I am the “Voice of [that] Celebration.”
• May 27-28: Prepare for the Hawaii World Class Wedding Expo over the weekend at the Convention Center. Lots of designing, coordinating with other vendors, etc.
• May 29-30: Showtime! I have a fabulous time making new friends and meeting brides-to-be at the expo. If you came by my booth and are a new reader to this blog, thank you for stopping by!
• May 31: Attend the Hawaii wedding of my good friends Ed & Shelley. They’ve been together for almost eight years, and they finally decided to get married here in Hawaii. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception overlooking the beach at Kualoa, on the island of Oahu.
• June 1: Begin following up with brides-to-be whom I met at the expo. If I haven’t gotten to you yet or returned your calls, my apologies! You are still very much on my mind!
• June 2: More followup, and a NACE Hawaii board meeting later in the evening.
• June 3: Do research on some ethnic traditions for an upcoming wedding, then have a fabulous meeting with Christine & Woody for their wedding in August. Unfortunately, our meeting is cut short due to a schedule conflict. I also realize that it’s the beginning of the month, meaning that my Wedding VIP Club members should expect a new issue of the VIP Club newsletter in a few days.
• June 4 (today): I meet with Genesa to help her organize the details for her celebration on June 27, and later on this evening, I connect with Ashlee & Alvin for their wedding on June 20. Of course, between meetings, I’ll continue to call those of you who dropped by my booth at the wedding expo.

So that’s where we are. It’s certainly a very productive time!
