• Education is Important!

  • Earlier today, I attended a webinar called Creating Anticipation at Events by Jason Jones & Bill Hermann with The Entertainment Experience.  Jason & Bill talked about using surprise and intrigue to create a party where the guests are more eager to tune in and become more involved in the presentation.

A lot of times, guests “tune out” of the party and leave once dancing starts (or sooner) because they aren’t fully engaged, and they have come to expect what happens next, as is typical in the “average” wedding reception.

But if you create a party full of surprises, it gives the guests more reason to pay attention, become involved, and stay longer.

I learned a lot from this webinar, which translates to better parties for my clients.

When was the last time your wedding emcee & DJ took a course to learn something new?

Many DJs and emcees in Hawaii use the same jokes, gags, goofy characters, and routines at every party or wedding, which thus starts to make their client’s event look “average”.

If you’re spending a lot of time and money on your wedding in Hawaii, do you want your wedding to be “average”?

Or do you want it to be extraordinary?

So a good question to ask your prospective emcee:  what have you done recently (like in the last three months) to learn something new, to provide a better event for me?  Then listen closely to his answer.  If he hasn’t attended a webinar, workshop, or conference in the recent past, chances are they are using the same stale jokes and routines that they do at EVERY party, meaning that your Hawaii wedding or party is simply another “gig” to them.
