Happy Anniversary Hidemi & Prescott!

I create unique and original parties, and Hidemi & Prescott’s wedding was most certainly unique!

We played games!

Hidemi met Prescott on the beach in Waikiki.  She was a Japanese student studying in Hawaii; he was a military man stationed in Hawaii.  They frequently ran into each other while he was on his daily swim.  They struck up a friendship, which turned into romance, which turned into a wedding!

Hidemi knew that her family from Japan would not dance at her wedding.  In addition, with a daytime celebration at the Hale Koa Hotel on this day in 2008, Prescott was certain that his side would not dance either.

But both families LOVED playing games!

So instead of ending the reception with dancing, they opted to play some interactive games to bring both families together and bring out their competitive spirit!  Among the games was an activity called Golf Ball Chop, in which guests had to pick up golf balls (tying into Prescott’s love of golf) with chopsticks (tying into Hidemi’s Japanese culture) and move it across the dancefloor to their team’s bucket!  It was raucous fun!

It wasn’t your typical wedding, but it was indeed very unique, very personal, and very memorable.
